The deficit in balance of payments was in the first eight months this year USD 2.4bn, 8.2% higher than in the corresponding period last year, it was stated in the newspaper Conjectural Trends of Serbia, issued by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
The deficit growth was mostly contributed by the negative balance of goods exchange of 12.7%.
The net inflow of foreign direct investments in the eight months of 2011 was USD 1.58bn, 821.8mn more than in the same period last year.
The balance of exchange of services with foreign countries was in the first eight months of 2011 positive and a surplus of USD 47.5mn was realized. Export over import coverage was in the first eight months of 2011, 101.8%. In January 2010, compared to August 2010 saw an increase of export services by 23.4% and import by 20.1%.
