Nenad Popovic: Entry into the EU not a Fateful Question

The victory of United Russia is a victory for Serbia too, because Russia will keep on giving principled support to preserving the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia when it comes to Kosovo and Metohia.

Preserving the territorial integrity of Serbia is the most important question for the DSS, like the territorial integrity of Germany is the most important for political parties in Germany. This isn’t an election topic for us, but an obligation. Continue reading

Nenad Popovic: Economy Needs EUR 5 Bn over Next Two Years

By judicial independence we are in 128th place, while for favoring government officials we are at 124th. And because of wastefulness in government spending, we ended up 130th and by the burden of government regulations we are 134th.

The unilateral implementation of the SAA was the wrong decision of this government which caused great harm to the local economy. Continue reading

Nenad Popovic: We can attract investments by establishing industrial zones in undeveloped municipalities in Serbia where investors could directly invest in production and tourism and, by doing so, would be exempt from paying all taxes except VAT. Speaking of reducing the foreign trade deficit, our party is proposing measures for increasing exports to Russia and establishing a Serbian-Russian export bank. Photo: Cord Magazine

At this moment, DSS members want to participate in elections independently from any other party. Continue reading

Debate in Parliament: Telekom Wins Any Match against Competition

Debate in Parliament: Telekom Wins Any Match against Competition

“I’d love to hear the reasons why the Government is for the sale of Telekom Serbia. The Democratic Party of Serbia is categorically opposed to the sale because it believes that telecommunications is an important strategic resource for the development of domestic economy. The thesis that Telecom needs to go into private hands because this is European practice, doesn’t stand, because the operators in the most developed countries are in majority state ownership,” said Nenad Popovic, vice president and MP of DSS addressing Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, at the Serbian parliament session on posing parliamentary questions on the topic suggested by the DSS: Sale of Telekom Serbia – motives and consequences. Nenad Popovic: Deficit in Trade with Russia can be Reduced only with Greater Exports

DSS is arguing for the adoption of a state strategy for improving exports to Russia.

“The deficit is a consequence of the structure of trade exchange between our two countries, dominated by energy imports from Russia. The only way to reduce this deficit is to increase exports to Russia,” said Nenad Popovic, Vice President of the DSS and President of the Economic Council, for daily newspaper Danas.
